Project Scope

The scope includes designing, developing, and deploying ElderlyCare360, including mobile apps for Android and iOS devices, health monitoring systems, medication adherence systems, telehealth capabilities, social engagement platforms, safety features, personalized content, and a caregiver portal. Usability testing with elderly users and caregivers will refine the design and user experience.


During the conceptualization phase of the ElderlyCare360 project, low-fidelity wireframes were created to outline the basic structure and functionality of key app screens. These wireframes served as a foundational blueprint for the user interface design, focusing on layout, navigation, and content placement while omitting detailed visual elements.

Prototype - Bringing Designs to Life

Prototype development is a game-changer in our design journey! It’s like taking our awesome designs and turning them into a sneak peek of what our app will be like in action. We add cool stuff like buttons and links to make it interactive, so we can click around and see how everything flows together. Plus, we get to share it with our friends and classmates to get their thoughts and make any tweaks before we dive into the real deal. It’s all about making sure our app is top-notch and ready to rock the user’s world!

Research Insights

  1. Challenges and Pain Points:

    Elderly Users:
    Elderly individuals expressed frustration with complex technology interfaces, highlighting the need for a simple and intuitive design. Many mentioned difficulties in understanding terminology and navigating menus, indicating a preference for clear, straightforward language and easily recognizable icons.
    Caregivers: Caregivers emphasized the challenge of managing multiple responsibilities and coordinating care for their elderly loved ones. They cited difficulties in communicating with healthcare providers, tracking medication schedules, and ensuring the safety of their loved ones, especially when they are not physically present.

UX Design Process

  1. Getting Started and Researching: First things first, we kickstart the project by figuring out what we want to achieve and understanding who we’re designing for. This means setting clear goals and digging deep into what our users – the elderly folks and their caregivers – really need and want. We chat with them, do surveys, and maybe even try out some prototypes to see what works best.

2. Planning and Sketching (Low Fidelity): Once we have a good grasp of what our users need, it’s time to put pen to paper, literally! We start sketching out rough ideas for how the app will look and work. We focus on things like where the buttons will be, how the screens will connect, and what the overall structure will look like. Think of it like drawing a map before going on a road trip – it helps us figure out the best routes to take.

3. Making it Look Good (High Fidelity): Once we have a solid plan in place, it’s time to bring our sketches to life! We fire up Figma and start adding some color and polish to our rough sketches. This is where we pick out the perfect fonts, choose the right colors, and add in all the little details that make the app look slick and professional. It’s like going from a rough sketch of a painting to a fully-realized masterpiece. The end result is a set of high-fidelity designs that are ready to wow our users and take our app to the next level.
