TransitPro

TransitPro, my award-winning final-year university project, is an all-in-one transit app that streamlines commuting with real-time tracking, route planning, pass management, and ticket purchasing.

June 2024 - Nov 2024
THE PROJECT

Imagine navigating the city while juggling multiple apps—one for tracking buses, another for planning routes, managing passes, and buying tickets. It’s a hassle, right? That’s where TransitPro comes in.

Frustrated commuters, including myself, needed a streamlined solution. Managing daily commutes across different apps wastes time and adds stress.

TransitPro won the Best Project Award for its user-centric design and seamless functionality. The final solution aims to improve commuter efficiency, reduce app-switching frustration, and provide real-time, actionable transit insights.

MY ROLE

THE PROBLEM
Commuters struggle with managing their daily transit needs across multiple apps, leading to inefficiency, frustration, and missed opportunities for a seamless travel experience.

What a Transit App needed:
✅ A unified transit app to combine real-time tracking, route planning, pass management, and ticket purchasing
✅ A mobile-friendly interface for commuters to quickly access transit updates and plan their journeys
✅ A user-centric design that minimizes app-switching and streamlines the commuting experience

RESEARCH

The main goal of the research and discovery phase was to understand the current landscape of public transit apps, spot gaps and pain points, and gather insights from real users.

Competitive Analysis
A detailed competitive analysis was conducted on four popular transit apps: Presto, Transit, Google Maps, and Waze.
Google Reviews Analysis
I analyzed user reviews on Google Play for existing transit apps. This provided us with real-world insights into the frustrations and pain points.
KEY FINDINGS

The key findings from our research were:

✅ Presto offers pass management but lacks features for real-time bus tracking, route planning, and ticket purchasing.
✅ Transit provides real-time bus tracking and alerts but does not include pass management or ticket purchasing capabilities.
✅ Google Maps excels at route planning and real-time tracking but does not have integrated pass management.
✅ Waze features an interactive map but does not offer real-time bus tracking or pass management.

Hence, TransitPro was born – making every commute smarter, smoother, and more efficient.
DESIGN PROCESS

🔍 Research & Discovery – Conducted user interviews, surveys, and competitor analysis.
🧠 Ideation & Concept Testing – Brainstormed solutions, created multiple design concepts, and gathered real-world feedback.
🖌 Wireframing & Prototyping – Designed low-fidelity wireframes, mapped user flows, and iterated on high-fidelity prototypes.
✅ Usability Testing & Refinement – Tested the prototype with real users, analyzed feedback, and improved the final design.

Wireframing
I created low-fidelity sketches to map out user flows and prioritize key features. These wireframes were continuously iterated based on user feedback.
Design System and Components
I established a consistent visual language, including typography, color schemes, and UI elements and created reusable components to ensure a cohesive and scalable design across the app.
With a solid foundation in place, I brought ideas to life—crafting
high-fidelity screens that redefine seamless and intuitive commuting with TransitPro.
THE RESULT

Here’s how TransitPro plans to improve the commuter experience:

✅ Merges essential features into one app for a seamless, commuter-focused journey.
✅ Combines real-time tracking, pass management, and alerts in an easy-to-use interface.
✅ Centralizes all necessary information to help users plan better, saving time and reducing stress.
